My anniversary is coming up. We will have been married for 15 years in January. Fifteen of the longest years of my life. LOL It’s so hard to imagine that many years together. I guess though that is what happens when you find your soul mate.
We were both 18. He was working in a factory 45 minutes away. It had iced over and they had called off work for that day. I got up with the intentions on making our way to the courthouse one way or another. I had to coax him to agree to go get married that day. We head off towards town. We stopped in by Walmart to get our wedding rings. We ended up only getting mine because his job at the time prohibited any jewelry. My mother in law gave us $100 to get married on, that was her gift to us.
After we got the rings, we went to the hospital to do all the bloodwork. Back then it was required in order to get hitched. While we waited on the results, we headed downtown to this little furniture shop. I’m telling hubby to hurry up or the courthouse would close. Here we stand in the middle of the furniture store arguing about the time the courthouse closed. I finally drag him out of there and we go get the stuff from the hospital and make our way to the courthouse. We got there 5 minutes before they closed.
We got everything filled out and headed back to the judges chambers. I was in a red long sleeved shirt and red stirrup pants. He was in jeans and a long sleeved shirt. I was so nervous I got the giggles. So the judge goes through the whole do you, do you stuff and when it came time to kiss the bride, I started laughing and put my hands over my face. The judge said if I didn’t kiss him he wouldn’t sign the marriage license. So I did but giggling the whole time.
When we left, we headed off to McDonald’s and to a friends house to look at a dog. Hubby promised me later on that when we hit the 10 year mark he would give me a huge fancy wedding complete with a wedding dress and tuxedos. Well I hate to inform him, but he’s about 5 years too late on that one.
Maybe one day I will get the wedding of my dreams. This time my plans will include all three of my girls. I don’t care if anyone else is there as long as he shows up and my girls are with me. Maybe next time, I will get a real honeymoon too. LOL
Ebeanstalk..helping to build imaginations
I’m a kid at heart. Even though I’m almost 33 years old, I love playing with my kids toys. It’s great when I find a toy that everyone loves to play with. We recently got to try a toy from Ebeanstalk. We received a Scratch Magic Princess Drawing Kit to review. Since we got it on Friday, everyone has had their turn playing and creating these cute little cards.
The Scratch Art sets are designed to let kids (and adults) get creative and let their imaginations run wild. In our box, it contained 15 blank scratch cards, 2 scratch pencils, a princess themed stencil, a crown and jewels. Each scratch card is black with a surprise underneath. All you do is lay the stencil over the black card and take the pencil and scratch off the black and it reveals a colorful rendition of the stencil underneath. Or you can just take the pencils and draw anything your heart desires. Here is what all three of the girls have done..
Ebeanstalk has some of the best educational games I have seen. It brings out the creativity in children. Being a mother, I thrive on finding games that my girls have to use their imaginations with. Each product from Ebeanstalk comes with a card that shows what toy is designed for. Example being, the Scratch Princess Drawing kit is great for developing imagination and emotional skills. There is no other toy company out there that tells you what that toy will stimulate in your child.
Whether your child is a newborn or 7 years old, they have great educational and developmental toys for all stages and ages. You can read the description of each toy and decide what motor skill you want to work on with your child. It’s a really great site and I’m not just saying that. I haven’t had all three of my girls enjoy something as a group as they have the drawing kit.
With the holidays approaching Ebeanstalk has graciously sent me a coupon code that any of you can use. Simply just use the code JUSTFORFRIENDS and you can get an additional 15% off of your purchase. The toys would make great Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers for your loved ones. Shorty has enjoyed the drawing kit so much, I am going to buy another one for a Christmas gift for her. I’m sure everyone around the house will get enjoyment out of it just like I have.
Football in our family is a way of life. You either root for one team or the other. It’s always fun to talk the smack around the turkey about the big Iron Bowl and who will win. This year, most of the Auburn fans in the family were not defending their own team, but talking about how Florida will beat the snot out of Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Well, tonight we beat the snot out of Auburn and I couldn’t be more happier. Saban and his crew came out with both guns drawn. Alabama never even let Auburn score. We won with 36-0. How awesome is that.
Auburn just couldn’t bring their game today. They must have had left over turkey grease on their hands because they just couldn’t hold on to that ball to save their lives. I have heard talk around town and such of how Tommy may loose his job after losing to Alabama. Even though my blood runs Alabama through and through, I really hope Tommy doesn’t get fired. Why you ask, well every team has a bad year. This just happened to have been their year.
Next week is the big SEC game. Florida has game. They bring it every time they play. I just hope that Alabama will continue to bring their game and win the SEC Championship title. Talk about making one girl happy. Roll Tide Baby!!!!!
Safe for Kids. Safe for the Environment.
I like all things Sassy. Call me biased to the name. So when I find products that have the name Sassy in it, I just simply have to try them out. For instance, Sassy Shampoo. I asked if my daughters could review this product. Why my daughters you asked, well the Sassy product line is geared for preteen and teen girls.
You can only imagine their faces when I handed them 4 bottles that contained to word Sassy on them. One was the Sassy Shampoo. One was the Sassy Conditioner. One was the Sassy Face Wash. And the last one of course was the Sassy Shower Gel. I have always taught my daughters to have a Sassy attitude and now, not only do they have the ‘tude, they smell divine in the process.
All of the Sassy product line is natural and organic. There is no harmful pesticides. There are no chemicals. There is no dyes. It’s is purely natural. This was great for us because, Jelly Bean has very sensitive skin. Although it’s completely all natural, she does however itch when she used the Shower Gel or Facial Wash. But the other two, it does not bother what so ever and in fact, when I told Wild Child that Jelly Bean couldn’t use it, she got this evil grin and said ‘It’s all mine’.
All three of the girls love the Sassy Shampoo and Conditioner. When I asked them what they liked about it, the verdict was in. All three love the scent of it. They have the Organic Honey. They all three were in agreement of how soft and smooth their hair was. They also loved how it helped reduce the tangles they had. Of course, they don’t care about the importance of being natural like I do, they are teens after all.
Not only do I love how the product is safe for my children and the environment, I love the bottle. It has a cute little duck with a very empowering message for girls. On the bottle it says “No one can call this duck ugly. Be the own boss of your own beauty”.
My girls have fell in love with all of the products from Sassy. They never head to the shower alone.. they take the Duckie with them. LOL. I am so happy to have found this product. And you should check it out. Right now there they are having a sale on everything. Everything is dramatically reduced. Just in time for the holidays. I would recommend this to anyone who has a daughter or anyone who wants a natural shampoo and conditioner (as well as face wash and body wash). It lathers up great, the scent remains in the hair and it will make your preteen or teen fell really good about themselves, I know it did mine.
Stuffed and Smilin’
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. I know I did. It was filled with love, family and laughter. That’s all that is important right. I have to say, yesterday was the best Thanksgiving I have had in a long time. We ate my mother in laws fabulous dressing. I have tried for years to remake her dressing. I, nor anyone else for that matter, can get it just like she does.
After we ate, I took photos and the kids (big and little) went outside and played football. Of course with the big Iron Bowl game tomorrow, there was plenty of smack talk over who is going to win, Alabama or Auburn. We sat around and talked and caught up on everyone’s lives. We oohed and ahhed over the babies of the family.
My daughter got her first driving lesson yesterday. Her grandfather turned her loose in one of his cars. I was not brave enough to climb in the car, so my niece took over. I have to say, my daughter done excellent yesterday for her first time. Now, she’s bugging me to go drive again around the cotton field again. Umm no thanks. LOL
We came home and chilled out for a while. Then we got a call and an invitation to come eat with my niece. We decided to go and the fun continued at her house. We came home and decided to keep all the computers off, and gathered around the TV to watch Fred Claus. Of course with the days festivities behind us, not everyone made it through the movie. But it was the best day. I felt so much like a part of a family and that is something I haven’t felt for a very long time. Normally I would go eat with the in laws, come home and get down and out about not going to celebrate with any of my family.
Yesterday though I realized, they may not be my blood. But they are my family. And it honestly couldn’t have been a more perfect day for me. How was yours?
I often gripe about various things on a daily basis. I complain we are always broke, my family and their stupid antics and even my poor old husband gets in on the action too. But when I stop and think about it, I’m blessed. Jilly Bean had a things she is thankful list and I’d thought I’d borrow it from her.
1. I’m so thankful for my husband and kids. Granted they get all over my nerves, but at least I do have them to get on my nerves.
2. I may not have money in my pocket but I’m rich with love from my family and friends.
3. I may not always have food in the cupboard, but at least I do have those cupboards.
4. My house may not be spotless, but at least I do have a house and a roof over my head.
5. My heart may be broken, but I’m thankful I am alive to feel.
6. I may have never met you in real life, but without you I would be lost. I feel as though you are my family.
I am thankful for so much. I may complain and gripe, that’s just me. But when you break it down, I’m healthy (except for those dang joints that wanna lock up), I’m happier now than I was, and I have my family and friends like all of you. Be thankful for the small things, they are what brings the most joy in your life. Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you. What are you thankful for?
I’m in it to win it
Ok, I really wanna win one of her fabulous contest. So who am I talked about you wonder. I’m talking about Jilly Bean’s awesome giveaways she’s got going on. She has one contest for Georgia’s fines Pecans from Pearson’s Farms. You can win a Pecan Sampler pack. After you enter that one, go on and enter the Grits-Girls Cookbook. It’s chocked full of great southern recipes. What are you waiting for.. go one.. get to entering today.
I feel so blah today. My stomach has been flip flopping all day long. I get hungry, then attempt to eat then stay in the bathroom for half an hour. I think I have a stomach bug. I have some nausea pills, but I know as soon as I take them, it will be lights out for me. Why is it that someone is always sick on Thanksgiving?
Speaking of Thanksgiving, Shorty got in the truck and was explaining to me all about Thanksgiving and what she has learned today. She said (and I don’t know how much of this is right coming from a 7 year old) that Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to grow corn by using rotting fish as the nutrients. She also said something about a rock and Columbus and everyone was chipping pieces away of this landmark until they finally put a fence up around it. I’m happy to see that she’s finally learning useful knowledge. During the first 2 years of school, it’s basic stuff. This is the year they get into the fun stuff.
And of course, I had to listen to the teens talk about their day. But their days is in repetition. It’s the same thing just a different day.. here’s a sample of a conversation. “OMG, so and so got into a fight over so and so.” OR “I don’t like so and so, they are just rude”.. it’s a never ending teen cycle. I will admit though, some days I just tune them out until we get home. I do catch the important stuff.
I think I am fixing to take my nauseated butt to the couch or bed. Maybe my stomach will get the hint there’s no trampoline in there.
