Testing Window Live Writer
3rd November, 2007
So I downloaded Windows Live Writer this morning. I’m still not certain how I feel about it though. I downloaded it so I could do some work and save it to drafts and upload it when I get done. Maybe once I play around with it for a bit it will grow on me. Do anyone use this? Any helpful tips for someone too lazy to figure it all out?

I’ve been using it since May or June and I love it because it has a lot more choices for font’s, plus it will resize my pictures to just show a thumbnail on the entry with a link to the bigger picture. You can also use it with more than one blog. It’s supper easy to use with all the drop down’s under the different menu headings. Play with it some and don’t be afraid of it, it really is very user friendly.

Wander, I am loving it. The only problem that I am having is the time on it. When I publish a post it pushes it back several hours. Any idea how to fix this?

I loves me some Windows Live Writer, I have actually written a few posts about it’s use. I use Windows Live Writer to write all the posts on my blog. To be able to write content offline, using a WYSIWYG environment and then upload it is really helpful. You can also write a few posts offline, and then upload them when you are connected to the Web.
Your publishing issue, sounds like you don’t have the time zone correctly set for your blog. When you create your post, you don’t need to set a time, just write your post and click publish. If you have a time zone set correctly, there may be a small timing issue due to daylight savings time.
WLW is a great tool, and I think you will quickly find that you can’t imagine writing posts without it.

Pretty cool Thomas. I will check out some of your post on it. I used it twice today. I liked it. So you’re saying you don’t have to use the ‘Set Publish Date’ Button? It will automatically set it right? because that’s where I might be going about it wrong. I of course have hit the publish date and set it for today. Hmm interesting.

Sassy - Don’t set the publish date, and the post will publish ‘now’ You can use the publish date to publish a post in the future. I typically write posts late at night, and then ’schedule’ the post for 6:00 am the next morning.
If I am writing a post that I want to immediately show up, I don’t use the set the publishing date option.

Thanks Thomas, that’s where I was going wrong. I was clicking it and it was screwing up my time on the post. I see what you are talking about though if I wanted to publish later. Makes sense. Thanks again for the advice
