I’m super duper excited. This will be my first year attempting to homeschool all three of my girls. Around these parts, you should see peoples faces when I tell them that I am homeschooling all three of my girls. They have this “OMG poor you” look.
I have even had a few people question me if I can actually do it. Well of course I can. I can do anything I set my head to. Now I’m not saying I won’t strangle a kid or two along the way. But something in my heart is telling me that this is the right move.
At first Jellybean rejected the thought of being homeschooled. She tried to fight me tooth and nail on it. She had it in her head that if she showed her ass all summer I’d change my mind. Guess what, that backfired in her face. And now she’s more accepting to the fact. She’s even told most of her friends she isn’t coming back to school with them in August.
The only thing that sucks big time about homeschooling is living in Alabama. Here, you can not just jerk your kids out and school them. Oh no, we have to do things the hard way and go through a church or a cover school in order to homeschool. I have spent a lot of time during the summer researching different covers and what they have to offer. Some have online curriculum where others just let you teach at your own will.
We (I think) have found a cover school. We will be using the cover school my 17 year old niece uses. They offer an online based curriculum and it will be 4 hours online. However, after they finish that, they will be doing other work such as home economics, foreign languages, reading, and different other aspects of schooling. Hubby is going to do a small auto maintenance with the girls. Just a thing to teach them how to check the fluids, basic car stuff and how to change a tire.
I’m really super excited. I do not have to fight the crowds for back to school stuff. I do not have to go out in the winter to crank the truck at 7 AM. I do not have to worry about affording to send them back. I do not have to put up with the drama that all middle and high schoolers love. Plus we do not have to start school until September 1st. How cool is that?

Sounds like a plan to me. Good luck, hope that all goes well and that you don’t end up tearing all of your hair out…lol
