On June 20th 2006, I took my mother her birthday present. My cousin Greg was out there for a week and had never met Shorty. She fell in love with him. I took a picture of them two together. I did not know that that picture would be the last picture taken of him alive. One month later they found him dead in his bed. I will never forget my mother calling me. The first person I thought of was my Aunt. Greg was her first born.
Over the last year I have watched her struggle with his passing. I have tried to console her when she needed it. But I wanted to do something for her. Something to let her know that Greg would always be with her. So I got a chance to get a locket done. And she was the first person I thought of. I called Momma and asked her if I should do it. She said without a doubt yes. So I did. I had Greg’s picture Laser Engraved in a beautiful Silver locket for my Aunt. On the back it says You will Always be in my heart.
I received the locket in the mail this morning. Ironically today is Greg’s birthday. He would have been 40. I’m hoping that when I give my Aunt her locket today that she will know that I want her to always carry Greg in her heart. And even though he’s no longer with us physically, he will always be with us spiritually.
This is the inside of the locket with his picture. I’m amazed at how great it looks. It made me cry it’s so beautiful.

This is the front and the back. You might not be able to read what I had inscribed, but it says “You will Always be in my heart”.

I know that one day when my Aunt passes, she will pass the locket on to Greg’s daughter. I hope that she will also know that Greg will forever be with her.

She said she would wear it forever Opal. She loved it and I think it’s something she needed to help her cope with Greg’s passing.
What you did was awesome. You probably will never know how much she appreciated your kindness and thoughtfulness.
